Workshop: Spoon Feed No More
‘This session will provide delegates with classroom strategies that are lesson ready and can be used with minimal preparation literally the next day. The focus will be on getting pupils to be more engaged, less dependent and more active thinkers as well as ‘doers’ – it will be ‘work shop’ style training with lots of ‘doing’ and maybe even a few smiles too.’
The theme of Spoon Feed No More is about trying to create a classroom where the pupils
are working harder than the teacher. This involves trying to increase independence and
lesson teacher dependency! So this will mean a classroom where pupils are:
1. engaged and active participants
2. showing high levels of independence
3. able to reveal what they know and understand through effective questioning
4. ‘assessment literate’ and understand and contribute to what quality outcomes look like
5. who know they are making progress due to carefully chosen tasks meeting appropriate
The training will demonstrate classroom based suggestions to show what each of the 5
aspects could look like in day to day teaching.
